468 Registered Dietitians: The Missing Link in Corrections
Description
Patients often present with food-related concerns that require nutrition education. Learn how correctional dietitians support the health care team by providing nutrition assessments for food requests, such as food allergies, double portions, and extra protein. They also serve as intermediaries with food services and ensure that medical diets (e.g., gluten free, soy free, diabetes, hypertension, pregnancy) align with diagnoses. The session will include tips for educating patients on their dietary needs.

- Review the roles and responsibilities of a correctional registered dietitian
- Differentiate the roles of medical providers and registered dietitians
- Describe menus that match corresponding diagnoses
