471 What Would You Do? Ethical Considerations for the Correctional Nurse
Description

Individuals practicing as licensed nurses, regardless of the setting, must be familiar and comply with the laws, rules, and standards governing their role and practice setting in the compact states or specific state in which they practice. As the Nurse Practice Act (NPA) can change each legislative session, practicing nurses must stay abreast of changes. This presentation will explore the Nurse Practice Act, Standards of Nursing Practice, principles of nursing ethics, and professional boundaries. Specific ethical issues that can arise in a jail or prison setting will also be discussed.
