Dr. Arlita Jefferson is the nursing program manager for UTMB Correctional Managed Care Nursing Education and provides leadership and guidance within the Clinical Education Department over various programs and initiatives. Her nursing career began in 1996 as a correctional nurse. She has held many positions during her career, in and out of corrections. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, with a focus on nursing orientation and preceptorship development and implementation, at Eastern Kentucky University in 2021. Dr. Jefferson is also board-certified in nursing professional development and is a certified nurse educator. Dr. Jefferson has served on the Nurse Peer Review Committee as the committee facilitator and currently serves on various other committees, including the ACA Health Care Committee, ACA Correctional Nurse Committee, and TNA Scholarship committee. She is a proud member of various national nursing organizations and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
