487 Data That Saves Lives: Standardizing Suicide Attempt Documentation and Prevention*
Description

This presentation will address the inconsistency of terminology and incident categorization of suicide attempt events within carceral settings, as well as gaps in how data is collected and measured for suicide attempts. Utilizing data collected during a nine-month period from a large Midwestern jail, this presentation will provide improved terminology, present methods to measure suicide attempts in correctional environments, and review suicide data trends. Data-informed suicide prevention practices, policies, and training will be proposed.
