Autism spectrum disorders have evolved within the last 10 years. Research has led to clarification of diagnostic criteria and improved awareness of the array of symptoms, how autism spectrum disorders present, and the impact on individual lives. This presentation will outline the assessment of symptoms, diagnostic criteria, and treatment recommendations through a practical lens. The criteria of autism spectrum disorders will be applied to the real-world setting where patients are treated in the correctional system.
