430 Practice-Based Education as an Intervention to Strengthen Nursing
Description
This session examines the role of the Nurse Professional Development (NPD) practitioner, which has now taken a prominent place in the ANA's Scope and Standards for Nursing (2025). This session will review the three primary roles and seven responsibilities of the NPD practitioner along with evidence supporting the role in practice. Participants will discuss how NPDs can assist in rebuilding the correctional nursing workforce and ensuring the competence of correctional nurses.

- Create a "How-Now-Wow" matrix for implementing the NPD role in corrections
- Discuss the impact and outcomes of strong educators in the correctional nursing workforce
