216 Assessing Involvement in the Criminal Legal System as an Essential Element of the Patient's Social History
Description

Patient involvement in the criminal legal system is a frequent yet often overlooked social determinant of health. A history of arrest, incarceration, or correctional community supervision can markedly impact health care access and quality. This poster presents a proposed social history screening tool that assesses criminal legal involvement and can be adapted to different care settings and provider roles. This approach should be integrated into medical school curricula to ensure that future physicians are equipped to assess and address unique health challenges faced by justice-involved individuals.
