Ms. Lauren Black leads the division's Equity, Diversion, Inclusion, and Antiracism (EDIA) efforts. Lauren brings a wealth of experience and a passion for fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace environment. She was a lawyer with County Counsel for more than 20 years, during which she represented many County employees and departments in court and advised on a variety of legal issues. Lauren has worked extensively with DCFS, DPSS, DHS-CHS, the Sheriff's Department, the Office of Inspector General, and the Civilian Oversight Commission, among others. She also served as an Interim Justice Deputy for former Supervisor Sheila Kuehl. With a background in supporting justice patients and employees in the corrections space, Lauren has demonstrated a commitment to driving positive change and promoting equity in every aspect of her career. Lauren earned her BA from the University of California at Berkeley, and her JD from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly called UC Hastings School of Law).
