Ms. MJ Schmidt is the training and outreach coordinator for the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania. She has been working in brain injury rehabilitation for more than 30 years. She is a certified brain injury specialist trainer and divides her time among training, research, and development. Ms. Schmidt has worked in acute and post-acute brain injury rehabilitation and has been involved in projects related to the intersection of brain injury and the criminal/legal system for more than 10 years. Most recently she coordinated the intervention team on a National Institute of Justice-funded 5-year randomized controlled trial of an intervention designed to identify and support incarcerated men with brain injury. The project was a partnership between the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Ms. Schmidt presents regularly on this topic and serves on several national work groups related to the intersection of brain injury and justice-involved people.
