Lt. Joseph Atienza has served with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office for 17 years, with previous assignments in narcotics investigations, patrol, and internal affairs. As contract lieutenant at Santa Rita Jail, he oversaw the contracted medical provider and participated in the facility's quality assurance and continuous quality improvement processes, aligning compliance and quality improvement efforts. In his current role as compliance lieutenant, Lt. Atienza continues to work closely with the quality team to sustain and advance that integrated approach. He also serves as an instructor at the Alameda County Regional Training Center, where he trains recruits and experienced personnel.
