Dr. Joseph Williams is Associate Professor of Psychiatry with the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. He serves as medical director of an inpatient substance use treatment facility operated by UNC Health as well as the UNC Psychiatry Department’s director of correctional psychiatry. Dr. Williams completed his general psychiatry residency training at Wake Forest University and his forensic psychiatry fellowship training at UNC. He has work experience in both the North Carolina state prison system and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Dr. Williams has board certifications in general psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, and addiction medicine.
