112 Access to MOUD: Navigating Challenges, Overcoming Barriers*
Description

Use of medications for opioid use disorder in combination with services supported by evidenced-based research has been shown to be clinically effectives. Although correctional institutions have progressed in increasing availability of MOUD treatment, many barriers remain that prevent access to care. This session will discuss different types of programs and services to break down barriers and overcome challenges to providing life-saving medication to those who need it.

Educational Objectives
  • Review MOUD treatment, including the medications used, treatment goals, and the evidence to support its use
  • Identify challenges and obstacles related to providing access to care with MOUD in corrections
  • Describe existing programs to provide access to MOUD in challenging situations
