This presentation outlines the importance of initiating a comprehensive limb salvage and wound care program in a state correctional setting. In the Maryland prison system, such a program was initially used to standardize care and aid in decreasing the morbidity and mortality associated with wound complications. These programs encompass preventive care, comprehensive education, and a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, including vascular surgery, pharmacy, infectious diseases, and podiatry.
