Dr. Meggan J. Lee is the Deputy Superintendent of Special Populations at Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in the Massachusetts Department of Corrections where she works to implement state-level reforms that end restrictive housing in Massachusetts. Dr. Lee earned her doctorate in Sociology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she also served as publication coordinator and academic advisor to the Education Justice Project at the Danville Correctional Center. As a researcher, Dr. Lee studies disparities in the criminal justice system, with particular attention to the impact of violence on social determinants of physical and mental health at interpersonal, community, and institutional levels.
