Dr. Rachel Silva is a general internist at Hennepin Healthcare and was Medical Director at the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center from 2017-2022.  In that role, she led many quality improvement efforts and policy changes including the COVID-19 response, implementation of MOUD program, and implementation of end of life care related policies.  She has a passion for medical education and aims to teach students and residents in Minnesota about criminal justice and health. In addition, she publications in JAMA Network Open, American Journal of Public Health, and the National Sheriff's Association Magazine related to a variety of topics about jail related healthcare.
