Description

Health care at the end of life poses a complex set of medical, psychiatric, legal, and ethical challenges complicated further when a patient is incarcerated. This discussion will cover key components of end-of-life care including advanced directives, alternate decision makers, provider orders for life sustaining treatment, and considerations for applying these components in the jail setting. Case studies will highlight clinical aspects as well as considerations for policy development.
