138 The 4-Square Model of Suicide Prevention*
Description
This presentation introduces the 4-Square Model of Suicide Prevention used in California prisons. Informed by research and best practices, the model consists of four squares - prevention, treatment, preparedness, and quality - each with its own set of interventions. Together, they form an integrated system of safety nets designed to prevent, identify, and treat suicidality. The model can be applied to any correctional setting to create and monitor a comprehensive, multicomponent, and multilevel suicide prevention program.
