118 Designing Healthier Transitions: A Hands-On Lab for Youth Reentry*
Description

This interactive session bridges research and real-world practice. After a quick primer on new Medicaid reentry reforms (CAA 2023, 1115 waivers), participants will work in teams to solve a fictional youth reentry case, identify implementation barriers, and design practical micro-solutions. Using a mini-design sprint and group "pitch session," attendees will leave equipped with actionable strategies and a visual roadmap to strengthen coverage, coordination, and continuity of care for justice-involved youth.

Educational Objectives

  • Describe key Medicaid policy reforms affecting youth reentry and continuity of care
  • Analyze real-world barriers and opportunities to implement reentry reforms
  • Design practical micro-solutions that strengthen coordination between detention, Medicaid, and community providers
