215 Addressing Forced Sterilization and Coerced Contraception Behind Bars
Description
This poster will address the overlooked but persistent problem of coerced contraception and forced sterilization among incarcerated women. We will discuss how interactions with the criminal legal system create opportunities for reproductive control, historical patterns of eugenics, contemporary examples of coercion, and the disproportionate impact on women of color, as well as recommendations to protect reproductive autonomy, implement informed consent practices, and integrate peer advocacy programs.
