312 Managing the Complexities of Mental Health Treatment Units
Description
One of the most challenging aspects of correctional mental health care is managing specialized mental health treatment units. This presentation by two administrators with extensive experience in correctional mental health care will provide both policy guidance and practical suggestions on managing common difficulties. The presenters will take a deep dive into NCCHC standard MH-G-02, which outlines basic expectations and best practices for mental health treatment unit operations. Special focus will be given to working with security and administration, suicide prevention, the development of multidisciplinary treatment plans, and strategies for defensive documentation to manage liability risk.
