Description
Using data from a yearlong study of self-harming behaviors among incarcerated individuals, this presentation explores the functional reasons that patients engage in deliberate self-harm in prison, reviews the factors that may contribute to DSH behaviors, and discusses strategies for treating and managing patients who engage in DHS for the purpose of obtaining a secondary gain.
