This discussion addresses the difficulties in assessing functional/adaptive and neurocognitive deficits within the correctional setting and Missouri's approach to addressing those challenges. We will discuss why it is important to identify these individuals, our process of identifying a best practice to address this issue, how others identify those with functional and neurocognitive impairment, and what measures are used to improve safety and functioning while incarcerated.
