Dr. Rocksheng Zhong is an associate professor and director of forensic services in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he also founded and directs the forensic psychiatry fellowship. He holds a joint appointment in epidemiology in the UTMB School of Public and Population Health. Board-certified in general psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, and addiction medicine, Dr. Zhong maintains an active clinical and forensic practice and provides expert consultation to courts and attorneys in legal and administrative matters involving mental illness. His scholarship focuses on mental health law and ethics, decisional capacity and informed consent, and correctional mental health. He has published in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to academic textbooks, coedited an award-winning forensic psychiatry text, received the American Psychiatric Association’s Carol Davis Ethics Award, and chairs the ethics committee of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law.
