Court-ordered mental health treatment is a complicated and controversial avenue that is periodically deemed to be necessary for adequate mental health care, particularly within a correctional system. Clinicians cope with numerous clinical and ethical dilemmas in their pursuit of adequate mental health care for their patients. This presentation explores the various benefits and challenges of navigating these dilemmas and shares best practices that have strengthened therapeutic rapport, improved the mental health of numerous patients, and may assist others facing similar dilemmas.
