458 The Lateral Leader: The Nurse Professional Development Practitioner Role - Part 2
Description
This educational session continues the sequence designed for facility-based nurse educators. Evidence demonstrates that education does make a difference in the clinical setting. This session examines another of the seven roles of the Nurse Professional Development Practitioner (NPDP) in detail, the ‘leadership’ role. NPDPs are leaders and exhibit lateral leadership, a form of eye-to-eye leadership that occurs when peers collaborate for complex problem solving or creative innovation. This session explores strategies the NPDP applies to influence the interprofessional practice and learning environment, the specialty, and correctional healthcare outcomes.
