Ms. Liesl Hagan serves as Senior Scientist for Correctional Health in the CDC Office of the Deputy Director for Infectious Diseases, where she coordinates cross-cutting work across the agency to protect and improve the health of people who are incarcerated. Ms. Hagan works with a wide network of correctional and detention facilities, health departments, and governmental and community-based organizations to promote evidence-based healthcare practices in carceral settings. During the CDC COVID-19 emergency response, Ms. Hagan founded and led the COVID-19 Corrections Unit and is now deployed to the CDC Monkeypox response representing correctional settings. Prior to COVID, Ms. Hagan worked in the Division of Viral Hepatitis, also focused on corrections.
