Many residents and fellows are interested in pursuing educational opportunities that equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to care for individuals during incarceration and facilitate successful reentry. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education has initiated accreditation for institution-based fellowships that provide specialized graduate medical education, preparing physicians to deliver care in prisons, jails, and other detention facilities.
