Description
Data from a large prison system in a Western state over a 13-month time period were used to analyze deliberate self-harm events with focus on type of DSH, reason for DSH, common methods, and other relevant factors about DSH events. The results indicate similarities among patients who engage in frequent DSH, the primary motivators of DSH, and unique factors found within the correctional setting that are linked with increased rates of DSH.
